Hm, I think there are problems with the changes in lwlib ... I, for one,
can use everything just as usual, however there's a serious vanilla
allergy now.  It seems to be the gutter code (which I disable usually) and
it could be the very same for your emchat instance since you use those
fancy status-in-gutter stuff.
