The next XEmacs 21.4 release (21.4.16) is imminent. It'll come any
day now. This is the release I want to fork!
So.
I'll work my cute little butt off with the PPM. And in the meantime,
here's what I'd like you guys to do...
- Logo. We need xpm icons and a new sexy splash screen. And I am
absolutely crap at artsie fartsie type things.
The art needs to be sexy, but not pornographic (put your pr0n
away, hrop). My only stipulation is...
a) Ben Wing's name is _NOT_ on the splash screen.
b) My name is. [1]
- A global search and replace on "XEmacs" to "SXEmacs" and "xemacs"
to "sxemacs". And so we don't have to rewrite every scrape of
lisp code on the planet... SXEmacs _*MUST*_ provide both `xemacs'
and `sxemacs'.
Both of these need to return `t'...
(featurep 'xemacs)
(featurep 'sxemacs)
- A list of code names. Think of a general topic and see if you can
come up with 2 or 3 words relating to the topic for each letter of
the alphabet.
- Somebody to knock up a half decent web page for us (using the new
sexy logos). [2]
Basically, SXEmacs 22.1.0 will just be XEmacs 21.4.16 with a new
splash screen, logos and name.
The time-frame? Simple. As soon as possible after these 3 events...
a) XEmacs 21.4.16 is released
b) The PPM is completed as much as possible.
c) The issue tracking is in place.
Oh, I feel so "managerial" :-)
Have fun, and keep sexy!!
Footnotes:
[1] I'm not 100% sure if this would be the right thing to do. If you
have an objection please say so.
[2] Johann, I'm happy to host www here. Can you point
www.sxemacs.org to youngs.au.com? And possibly give me a hand
with Apache so http://www.sxemacs.org/index.html doesn't display
http://youngs.au.com/index.html (if you know what I mean)
