Since you are talking about a fork of XEmacs, it would not be obvious
why you felt necessary to copy the emacs-devel list.  Both from
technical as well as licensing viewpoints, this announcement appears
exclusively of interest to XEmacs users and developers.

It's not like we have not had our share of tempers flaring recently on
the emacs-devel list due to ill-advised "cross-fertilization" already.
Since that thread had been copied to xemacs-beta, you should have been
aware of it.

Using a different version control system would not seem like a reason
to open another project: in fact, Miles Bader keeps an arch repository
synchronized with Emacs (as can be witnessed by the arch identifying
strings that are in every Emacs source file by now).
