No, from #emacs, the following browser had problems:
the mozilla-firefox in debian sid. version "1.0+dfsg.1-6"
I know I've cursed counless similar menus that didn't work right in
netscape and I think the issue is our lack of control over the size of
the main menu, and therefor we cannot guarantee non-issues with the
placement of the submenu, right?
But if the menu can be made persistant (by clicking on "developer
pages" for example) we may have a workaround but I don't think anyone
will, if the menu will appear from hovering... ;/
We simply *cannot* control very accurately the size and shape of the
font ppl will be using. Some ppl will be using larger fonts than
others becouse of bad eyesight and other issues, and I see no reason
why they should stay away from SXEmacs in general. [I think I've seen
2 blind guys on #emacs].
For the record, I saw no issues in Netscape when changing the font
size, but we shouldn't be letting only Netscape influence the page
layout.
What actually happens when hovering menus become an issue, is when
there is a border between the main menu and the submenu, which causes
a battle with the window system to prevent mouse events being
generated over that space. When heatxsink was originally doing the
menu, I had such a gap and worked around it by moving the mouse
faster. And there is no reason to force our visitors to jump through
such hoops.
Another issue I discovered is that there doesn't seem to be a way to
navigate the submenu with the keyboard. If we are going to keep it,
we need (IMO) another way to navigate the site that works with the kbd
and is just as intuitive. Personally, I think that's a waste of
effort. I see no gain in making it hard for ppl to navigate the site.
